I Was Injured In A Lyft Accident In Loganville, Georgia. How Much Insurance Is Lyft Required To Have In Georgia?

Were you injured in a Lyft accident in Loganville, Georgia?

If so, you may be wondering how much insurance Lyft must have in Georgia.  Please see below a breakdown of the insurance requirements for Lyft under Georgia law.

FIRST-INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR WHEN THE DRIVER IS LOGGED ONTO LYFT, BUT HAS NOT YET ACCEPTED A RIDE REQUEST

When the Lyft driver is logged onto the app, but has not yet accepted a ride request, the Lyft driver must have a minimum of $100,000.00 of insurance for bodily injuries to or death of all persons in any one accident with a maximum of $50,000.00 in insurance for bodily injuries to or death of one person.

For example, if you and two of your friends are hit by a Lyft driver who is logged onto the app, but has not yet accepted a ride request, there will be $100,000 in available insurance for the three of you.  Unfortunately, if your friends only had minor injuries and you had major injuries, you can only recover $50,000 in insurance proceeds individually.

SECOND-INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR WHEN THE DRIVER ACCEPTS A RIDE REQUEST UNTIL THE DRIVER COMPLETES THE TRANSACTION OR THE RIDE IS COMPLETE

When the Lyft driver accepts a ride request, the Lyft driver must have a minimum of $1 million in insurance per occurrence and provides uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage of at least $1 million per incident.  This insurance requirement runs from the time the ride request is accepted until the driver completes the transaction or the ride is complete.

For example, if you take a Lyft in Loganville, Georgia and the Lyft driver is at-fault in an accident and you are injured as a passenger, there is up to $1 million in available insurance.

Also, if a Lyft driver hits you while you are in your own vehicle and the Lyft driver has accepted a ride request, there will be $1 million in insurance available.

Last, if you were in a Lyft in Loganville, Georgia and another vehicle is at-fault and does not have insurance, or does not have enough insurance to cover your injuries, Lyft is required to have $1 million in uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.
